Day Four

I decided that one way to spice up my schedule would be to try something new every saturday ( or sunday depending on my friday night wink wink). I'm so happy I made this commitment, because without it I may have not made the trek out to Corepower's Uptown location for a Real Ryder class! Let's just say, it was love at first spin. I'd done my research, but nothing had really described what the experience of riding a Ryder was like. I've been to a few torturous spin classes in my day. I'm pretty sure  my life flashed before my eyes last time I hopped on a stationary bike. Needless to say, I was a little anxious about this class. However, these bikes rock and roll around and really do mimic a real bike riding experience; unlike stationary bikes. I was so busy swerving and pumping my legs at ever changing resistance levels, that it took a water break for me to realize how much I was sweating. Instead of just staring into a mirror focusing on the slow burn in my legs, I was constantly thinking about my whole body. Don't get me wrong, my ass was thoroughly shredded by the end, but a full body workout just made it way more fun. We were swooping left and right ( hello abs), sprinting our legs, and fist pumping to the beat of the music. I also really loved how yoga values were incorporated throughout the class. We set an intention during the warm up and the cool down drew from poses like Standing Savasana. By the final sprint, everyone was panting and red in the face, but the high energy made me feel like I was at the best party in Chicago- how many cardio classes make you say that?

Happy spinning!
Peace, love, sweat xoxo SR
